Asthma is a very serious respiratory disease with a large number of causes (allergens, air temperature fluctuations, moist air and even a stress filled lifestyle). Treating asthma is very important as well as trying to prevent the illness from installing. Prevention includes inhaled glucocorticoids, which come as inhaler devices (budesonide, fluticasone, ciclesonide or mometasone) as well as asthma drugs such as mast cell stabilizers, antihistamines, Methotrexate (especially for difficult cases) and leukotriene modifiers. Treatment is mainly done by using bronchodilators (which come in the form of small size inhalers - MDIs) and nebulizers, which provide a larger, more powerful dose.
