Ortho Evra patch is indicated for the prevention of pregnancy in women who elect to use this product as a method of contraception. Combination oral contraceptives act by suppression of gonadotropins, inhibition of ovulation, changes in the cervical mucus (which increase the difficulty of sperm entry into the uterus) and the endometrium (which reduce the likelihood of implantation).
How to use this medicine: Apply one patch to the skin and worn for 1 week and then replaced. Apply to an area of clean, dry skin on the lowe stomach area below the belly button. Do not place the patch on the breast. Contact with water while bathing, showering, or swimming will not affect the patch. Do not flush patches down the toilet. Apply a new patch to a different area to prevent skin irritation. Do not eat greapfruit o drink grapefruit juice while you use this medicine. Ortho Evra may cause dark skin patches on your face (melasma). Avoid the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booth.
