Atenolol (Tenormin) is a beta-blockers. Beta-blockers reduce heart  beat. Atenolol controls high blood pressure. Atenolol also relieves chest pain, and can be helpful after a heart attack. Sometimes atenolol is used to help prevent migraine headaches.
